I am a theologian and occupational therapist. My research interests include theology and disability, bioethics, accessibility in higher education, and occupational engagement in religious activities. I have published and presented in a variety of interdisciplinary contexts on issues related to Christian theology and ethics, intellectual disability, spirituality, disability studies, and occupational therapy. I am the author of Becoming the Baptized Body: Disability and the Practice of Christian Community (Baylor University Press, 2022).Currently, I work as Program Director of Duke's Occupational Therapy Doctorate and Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy and Theological Ethics at Duke University. I hold a dual appointment in the Occupational Therapy Doctorate Division in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the School of Medicine as well as at Duke Divinity School. I hold a current AOTA Board Certification in Pediatrics.I have 9 years of teaching experience in higher education and currently teach courses at Duke University in the School of Medicine, Divinity School, and across various undergraduate departments. I consult and teach in a variety of other institutions of higher education as well as ecclesial contexts.
