Growing up and living in San Diego has afforded me numerous opportunities including working at two different community hospitals, three different outpatient rehabilitation facilities, and earning a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. These opportunities have allowed me to experience various aspects of healthcare through direct patient care. San Diego has also allowed me to appreciate the differences in each culture and how their medical care may be influenced by these beliefs. I have experienced the increased demand for culturally competent healthcare workers while working at these community hospitals. Obtaining a Master in Science of Nursing degree will allow me to have more opportunities and responsibilities as a Clinical Nurse Leader. With the research experience available through USD, I will be able incorporate evidence based practices in my work as a confident, masters prepared registered nurse.
