In my spare time, I perform bookkeeping, tax, accounting, and financial consulting services for a select short list clients that are trying to make the world a better place. My emphasis is working with those trying to balance financial growth and sustainability with a commitment to environmental or social justice in either a for-profit or nonprofit setting. My specialty is project-based work, lasting a few months to a few years, including startups and cleanups.

Internal Audit

Schedules, plans and conducts financial, operational, compliance, and investigative audits throughout the UM System. Conduct evaluation and appraisal of business operations. Conducts internal audits to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes. Provides management with recommendations for strengthening internal controls and operations. Interfaces with department managers and staff to complete audits, special projects and initiatives.

At Dogwood Carbon, I developed the admission and verification process for landowners enrolling in ecosystem services markets. I helped to develop stringent verification to yield high quality carbon credits in a market environment of high risk and uncertainty. I also directed landowner education efforts and strategic planning.
