Taught in-person summer school Civics and Careers in 2022 to a class of 37. Covered maternity leave at Brooklin H.S. in 2019 where I had full responsibility for 80 students and course delivery in the Social Sciences. In day-to-day supply, I cover grade 1-12 Geography, Business, English, Phys Ed, and Social Sciences. This work hones my skills of flexibility, improvisation and creative problem solving. I am also able to engage a crowd quickly and present myself and the lessons in a way that wins allies.

Citizenne is all about leveraging the creative potential of style in women's lives. We believe it is a powerful entry point for sustainable living as well as personal branding. Our first product, launched in November 2018, is the Year of Great Style -- a weekly wardrobe planner with an inspirational twist -- as users experiment with style foundations and practices of a conscious wardrobe each week. In my role as Co-Founder, I'm involved in partnership development, curriculum development, social media content creation, and event planning. Our engagement and products are predominantly online, with in-person events from time to time.These days there is no need to choose between having authentic personal style or living with sustainability as our core ethic, yet the myth persists. It is a false choice. Many of us have an inkling at the back of our mind that there IS another way. We've read an article, followed a stylist on Instagram, read a book, but this is all a flood of information without application. So we continue to live in a state where our hearts and minds and wardrobes are not completely aligned. Essentially, we lack the guidance or framework to put it into action, and this bugs us because we want to present our true selves to the world.Citizenne inspires, teaches and equips women to put these two skill sets together for a powerful personal brand in alignment with her particular vision to make a difference in the world.

In the constituency office of M.P. Ryan Turnbull, I was responsible for community outreach to private citizens, government and businesses. I planned consultations, managed the M.P.’s calendar while he was at the home constituency of Whitby. I also followed up with community liaison requests, case work with federal agencies, grant inquiries or other research. Managed all the M.P.’s social media and PR with input from staff team in Ottawa. Also recruited and trained volunteers as needed.

I was immersed from 2009 - 2018 in business development, curriculum design, and governance of this social enterprise making change in Fashion and Sustainability (with a hiatus 2013-2015). Worked on the first phase of a Canada-wide expansion of the 'My Clothes, My World' grade 4-12 environmental education program for schools. (As of 2018, reaching 9000 students in the Greater Toronto Area). Our most recent and exciting program is the Fashion Impacts Challenge - a year-long program that empowers youth to be fashion and climate leaders while reducing textile waste. Took part in 5 years at our international industry conference called WEAR (World Ethical Apparel Roundtable). I worked with the team to organize and lead events such as clothing swaps, 7Rs of Fashion workshops, the Green Living Show and Fashion Innovation BizCamp for young entrepreneurs. Opened a retail Showroom to promote our Member’s collections. Responsible for customer service and retention of our Members from coast to coast, recruiting and mentoring 27 staff and facilitators, 35 interns and 70 volunteers, and managing all forms of grant writing, social media, website development, and client communications.

In this role I took care of storytelling, copy-editing, and social-media-ing at the Spark Centre. Spark Centre is a not-for-profit that helps to start and grow innovative technology-based companies in Durham Region and Northumberland County. The Spark Centre is one of fourteen Regional Innovation Centres (RICs) that are part of the Ontario Network of Excellence (ONE).

At Ecokinesis I helped social enterprises turn their vision into workable reality. Facilitated team building, strategy, and program evaluation retreats using Results Based Management, Design Thinking and Appreciative Inquiry. Solely responsible for customer relations, marketing and bookkeeping.

I wore many hats in this social enterprise focused on "community building journalism": organizational developer, grant writer, workshop facilitator, and journalist. Micro Medias is the umbrella organization that runs The York West Advocate, a community news source (online and in print) that is run for and by residents of the Jane Finch community in north-west Toronto. It is working on a model of journalism, enterprise and youth skills training that can be replicated in other inner-city neighbourhoods around the world.

I coordinated sustainability education projects with various partners such as EcoSchools and PowerStream. Worked with marketing team on communications and website development. Also co-developed policy document 'Systems Thinking for Learning in the Living City' and led workshop series for 80 staff to integrate the policy into TRCA's culture and practice of education.

Developed multi-media capacity building resources for youth and international staff. Developed and evaluated CIDA programming. Trained international staff on environmental management, both in Canada and in Brazil and Bolivia. On core team for website design, magazine development, and fundraising campaigns.

I taught ecology and team building at Boyne River School for Natural Science, as well as Geography at King Edward Sr. P.S.

I taught grades 1-8 Geography and Language Arts. I also took the opportunity to visit many community development initiatives while I was in Ghana.
