During my position as the Director of the GWTC, I worked to fulfill several long-established responsibilities, and others which arose as unique responses to our community's needs. The primary duties are described below. My dynamic staff and I remodeled the constitution to include strategies on volunteer management and successful services operation. I collaborated with numerous organizations to better incorporate diversity in services, projects, events, and overall practices, which led to our recognition as a spearhead in cross-campus activism. Along with the help of a larger shelter, I wrote Emergency Shelter protocols; conducted meetings with head Security, Student Services and numerous University Departments to establish protocols’ legitimacy, and lastly, I created an alliance with the Toronto-based North York Women’s Shelter in case of student inaccessibility to the in-center shelter and to focus on issues of domestic violence and language barriers for new Canadians.
