In May 2005 I decided to start my own business and established myself as a home based speech language pathologist in the Early Intervention Program. I began to assess and treat children in their natural environments (home, daycare, public buildings) in order for them to be the most comfortable and show the most progress. In 2011 I began adding therapists to my business and established it formally as Shine Therapy Services. In addition to maintaining a caseload of children with a variety of speech/language disorders, I now communicate with our CFC, facilitate referrals for staff, bill a variety of payees for service (insurance companies, the State of Illinois, clients directly, etc), establish policies and paperwork for the business, maintain the website and handle all the other details that fall to a business owner in the therapy world. I enjoy working with families, children and other professionals to address concerns and enhance a child's skills. I hope to continue to grow in my field and expand by adding qualified therapists to Shine as opportunities arise.

Provided school based speech services, primarily for children in the Early Childhood program (age 3-5). Completed arena evaluations, established IEP goals, participated in IEP meeting and provided therapy in the classroom as well as in individual/small group sessions. Worked collaboratively with the classroom teacher to implement lesson plans targeting language development.

I began working at Easter Seals following graduation with my Masters in Spring 2000. Completed my Clinical Fellowship year at this facility and participated in training for a specialization in children age birth to 3. This clinic based environment offered the unique opportunity to observe and work with experienced SLPs as well as therapists in other disciplines (such as Occupational and Physical therapists) and physicians/developmental specialists. Participated in a regular case review process with the medical director to ensure appropriateness of services/therapy.
