At FB Environmental, I use my wetlands and water quality skills on a wide variety of projects including wetland delineations, stream crossing assessments, natural resource inventories, water quality monitoring and data analysis, technical writing, GIS mapping, and natural resource permitting.

I am conducting continual research and case study analysis of Integrated Solutions to climate change issues across New England with the organization Climate Solutions New England. I worked as a project team leader over summer 2015 with two Climate Fellows at the Sustainability, investigating Integrated Solutions to climate change and worked to inspire a common vision, as well as data and research management. During the summer I had the opportunity to assist in a basic wetland assessment; where we identified species diversity and measured various characteristics of the pond within our research site for a local family who preserves the land. Along with my research on Integrated Solutions to climate change, I am also supporting network development and engagement across the Climate and Sustainability Fellowship alumni network. I assist with many general office duties such as scheduling for the institute's director, paper work management and organization, off site meeting planning, coordinating catering, greeting visitors, and answering general inquiries about the Sustainability Institute.

I instructed an introductory course on New England ecology. Through hands on labs, I taught topics such as plant and insect identification as well as ecosystem dynamics. I prepared and proctored laboratory practicals, as well as held review sessions to aid students in their studies. I also helped advise the Environmental Studies senior science majors through their semester long capstone research project. I also performed various general assistant duties such as ordering supplies, equipment management, and organization throughout the various Environmental Studies laboratory and prep rooms. For the month of January I taught general tropical ecology in Belize. We began the January term at Colby College learning about tropical rain forests, tropical terrestrial fauna, as well as marine flora and fauna. We then traveled to Belize and spent 13 days in the rain forest and a week on an island where we taught the students about the various tropical environments through hands on experiences such as nature walks, birding, snorkeling as well as evening lectures. We also taught about the many Belizean cultures and provided ethnic immersion.

I conducted detailed analyses regarding past and present climate impacts and modeled future potential impacts for each of the six states in New England. With the data I developed graphics and communication materials to distribute my findings to broad audiences. I completed this work under the advising of Dr. Cameron Wake, the Josephine A. Lamprey Professor in Climate and Sustainability at the University of New Hampshire.

As an information desk attendant I help students, visitors, faculty, and staff with any questions they may have regarding Colby and our campus. I also assist with media requests in the various rooms in our student union building such as setting up a projector and microphones for a guest lecturer. I am personable and very approachable. I strive to provide the best answer and care to every customer I am approached by.

I served as a general assistant for the Environmental Studies department and completed a variety of tasks. I cleaned and organized lab materials. I performed several inventories where I built Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to catalog the data. I assisted the summer researchers with data collection, data organization, and data analysis. I implemented my geographic information systems (GIS) knowledge to create several maps depicting data that the summer researchers and I collected. I also helped publish and present some of our results at the Colby Summer Research Retreat.

I worked as customer service representative in the billing department for an electrical company. I strengthened my customer service skills throughout that summer as I assisted customers who had not paid their bills and needed to set up payment plan options. I implemented my excellent communication skills, patience, and positive personality as I worked with the customer to come up with a payment plan that worked from them financially.

As a kitchen assistant I worked along side a head cook and another co-kitchen assistant making food for a summer camp in New Hampshire. I helped to prepare, cook, and serve each meal every day and cleaned up after the meal. I also helped the counselors by play games, singing songs, doing arts and crafts, and swimming with the campers throughout the day. I also assisted with camper registration each week. I met each child and their parents, checked to make sure their payments and paperwork were complete, and introduced them to their counselors for the week.
