I am a member of the Ako Mātātupu Kairapu community. I have recently completed the Ako Mātātupu initial teacher education and leadership programme. We are a diverse network of people committed to ending educational inequality. My pedagogical approach is relational and responsive.

My role at CBICC enabled me to extend my learning as a teacher; to explore how I might shift my practice into the realm of early childhood education. The birth of my daughter; Sahaana, in 2021 prompted me to reflect on my goals as an educator: I came to realise I held a passion for early childhood development and a desire to facilitate child-led learning for infants/toddlers.Kaiako - Infants and Toddlers, mixed age-group setting - 0-3 years:- Build rich relationships with learners and whānau - Primary caregiving - Taking the lead in forming relationship with new learners- Meal preparation - Cooking/preparing balanced meals for infants/toddlers- Caregiving - Facilitating diverse (often individual) infant and toddler sleep, feeding, nappy changing/toilet-learning routines - Indoor/Outdoor play setups - Arrange environment to invite engaging, safe play- Resource Design - Design and make resources to extend learner interests - Observation - Holistic reflection on learning - Crafting research-led learning stories- Curriculum integration - Practice informed by Te Whāriki and RIE educaring philosophy

My focus over the last three years has been to develop my practice as a kaiako - teacher. My practice in this environment has been aligned to the following NZ Curriculum Areas: Mathematics (Year 7 - 8), Technology (Year 7 - 10), Digital Technologies (Year 11 - 13) and Te Reo Māori (Year 7 - 8). In addition, I have led professional development for school leaders and kaiako alike to facilitate the integration of digital technologies curriculum and learning across teaching areas.

During the 2016/2017 academic year I worked as a teaching assistant within the faculty of Creative Technologies at AUT. In this capacity I have supported lecturers to deliver course content across a range of undergraduate papers. Sharing my knowledge of creative practice has been a key aspect of this role.

During this period I was engaged as a research assistant, my primary responsibility was to develop course materials for AUT’s Master of Social Innovation program. Working alongside senior academic staff to produce articles for publication proved to be a highlight of this role.

This dynamic, exciting, project-based learning experience introduces 16–18 year olds to life behind the scenes at Auckland Art Gallery. It develops interpersonal and creative thinking skills in a professional environment, and allows participants to meet new people, make friends and have fun! During each Youth Media Internship, twelve young people from across Auckland and aged between 16–18 work in groups to ask a question and create a three-minute film about the Gallery. My role at Mosh began as an internship during the final year of my degree. My initial position was focused on creating social media content for clients. In December 2014, I became Mosh’s first full-time employee taking on the position of social media manager. In this capacity my role took on a project management focus, I managed campaigns for a portfolio of clients including: Airbnb, Motor Trade Association (MTA), The University of Auckland and Panasonic. While at Mosh, I had the opportunity to lead and facilitate content strategy sessions for a number of clients - I particularly enjoyed this facet of my role.

During my studies, I worked for Trade Aid on a part-time basis; managing the High street store each weekend. Due to the organisation’s fair trade affiliation, this role required an in-depth knowledge of the Trade Aid charter and products. I found the experience of working in the not-for-profit sector incredibly valuable as it aligned with my values and passion for the Fair Trade Movement.
