About Sarah Lorenzen, Aia

Sarah Lorenzen, AIA is a principal at Peter Tolkin + Sarah Lorenzen Architecture (TOLO) and is a tenured architecture Professor at Cal Poly Pomona. from 2008-2020 she served as director of the Neutra VDL Studio and Residences in Los Angeles, where she developed cultural and artistic programs and oversaw the restoration of the site.Sarah grew up in Mexico City and moved to the United States. to attend college. She did her undergraduate work at Smith College and at the Atlanta College of Art (BFA in Drawing, 1992), and received a Master of Architecture degree from Georgia Institute of Technology (1997) and a second Masters in Metropolitan Research and Design from SCI-Arc (2004). In 2011-12 Sarah spent a sabbatical at TU Delft in the Netherlands conducting research on the influences of technology on urban development. In 2015 Sarah was honored by AIA LA with "educator of the year" and in 2018 she was elected to its board.
