Presenter of Bloomberg Business Breakfast an early morning week day digest of financial news tailored for the investment and retail community. The service was a collaboration with LBC News 1152 providing a comprehensive news talk service for London.

My weekly newspaper column investigated and analysed the most urgent and relevant money-related stories of the week and why they mattered to the readership. What mattered to me was that my article was written in the clearest English and was enjoyed and understood.

The key challenge in this role was selecting and disseminating the most relevant information about the money markets to small and medium size start-up businesses.Messages were provided in bulletins which I wrote and designed alongside the production of corporate profile documentaries on a tight budget.

Responsible for the crisis management and press handling of this initially unpopular government-backed not-for-profit company.My remit was to create and roll out the branding and image of an organisation which runs all the education services for the London Borough of Hackney.In addition to recruiting and training a new communications team, I coached the Chief Executive and Chairman of The Learning Trust in terms of their press profile and presentation skills.Instrumental in projecting the Trust's key objectives, I combined new and traditional media to convey internal and external messages to stakeholders and the general public.

This role saw me battle against nature and my biorhythms as I had to wake up at 0200 every weekday to write and host Daybreak, a three-hour educational breakfast show. This programme specialised in the coverage of business and personal finance for the non-city based audience and retail investor. One of my greatest achievements was attracting a city audience and getting them to stick with a new TV channel until the Money Channel ran out of money.

Freelance television reporter / producer for financial news channel RFTV. It was this assignment which broke my teeth in energetic financial market reporting from a live and pre-recorded perspective.

After cracking a coded advertisement in The Guardian newspaper I was employed by 10 Downing Street's Strategic Communications Unit as a freelance Editor overseeing the government's Annual Report which was an unpalatable, dull, civil service publication wanting to be digestible and bought by the general public in retail outlets. I argued literature such as this incurred large cost for little reward or readership. This was accepted.My main responsibility was to author a research document on how the existing government could re-establish an in-house photo library.

Scriptwriter for a 13-part 3D animated cartoon series based on The Ramayana. The biggest challenge was to convey my script to non-English speaking animators and become involved in the story boarding process of an intensive and painstaking animated art form. The Ramayana is a 2500-years-old classic tale of good and evil. In order to keep true to the original message I was to cross reference more than 200 versions of the story.

Writer, producer and director for a small investigative team which unearthed corporate wrong doing in the Philippines and broadcast it across South East Asia often resulting in threats to mortality.

My media-related research papers have included communication grids and press strategies as a consultant to government and non-governmental agencies. For the European Union Delegation in the Philippines I wrote about the euro prior to its release, and how it would impact the non-European economies. The challenge was to convey an intangible idea to a remote audience that had no relationship with the European currency, and why EU convergence mattered. My efforts were rewarded with further contracts including writing, editing and desk top publishing magazines on related subjects and advising how best to promote the EU and the Euro on the world wide web.

My most unusual and rewarding academic position was in the Philippines where I taught English, corporate communications and the language of journalese to postgraduates. On discovering the majority of my students considered the body odour of a foreigner to be the biggest obstacle to conducting business negotiations, I had to rewrite the course curriculum mindful of a cultural loss of face and sensitivity of delicate olfactory passages. I taught part time, set and marked end-of-semester examinations and value it as one of my most educational and humbling teaching assignments.

It was in the Philippines I faced the biggest challenge of my journalistic career. In 1996 I was hired by a regional TV station to teach its technical, off-air staff the BBC 'way' in terms of editorial content and visual quality having been a producer for the BBC two years earlier. I did so, and simultaneously became the first Caucasian female in the Philippines to present a prime time evening show spoken in a blend of the native dialect and English (Taglish). Feedback was positive and I was accredited with setting a new gold standard in terms of on-air presentation, ability and attitude. Unfortunately I was also the first anchor in the country to be kidnapped and fortunately the first to escape from the experience relatively unscathed

I was asked by the Canadian government and one of its contractors to create a mini documentary about the safety initiatives being taken after the Piper Alpha oil rig disaster in the North Sea.

'Losing Your Virginity' and `Performance Hell' were two of the mini educational slots I produced for the BBC under the first Series from Hell. This was a job were the word "couldn't" didn't come into it. You learned to operate a camera and film in sharp focus.

Hired by one of Britain's best known botanists David Bellamy, it was my job to promote his media profile, organise the burial of time capsules and edit the Foundation's magazine.

Initially a researcher for this film company, I became on screen talent when the company won the franchise to produce a weekly arts and entertainment programme for ITV franchise Meridian.
