I serve as the elected trustee for Single Member District 1 in San Antonio ISD after successfully running on a community coalition developed and supported platform entitled The Schools Our Students Deserve Platform.● Work with other board members to set vision and goals for the district and hold district staff accountable for achieving goals● Collaborate with the Education Justice Coalition to develop strategy for promoting the adoption and implementation of district policies that reflect and honor The Schools Our Students Deserve platform

I founded a grassroots parent/community member initiative to advocate for more community voicein district decision-making to ensure our schools meet the needs of all students and families.● Secured $75,000 in start-up grant funding to support parent organizing work andincorporate initiative as a non-profit● Organized the Education Justice Coalition, made up of representatives of 12 community-based and labor organizations, to coordinate efforts to advance policies to support the education and well-being of students, families and workers in our community

I conducted COVID-19 case investigations for the City of San Antonio Metropolitan Health District.● Made phone calls conveying sensitive and complex health information in a clear manner and with compassion to a diverse population● Accurately documented and tracked hundreds of cases and exposed contacts data in the state Texas Health Trace system

I managed a collective impact initiative of 16 cross-sector partners working to increase the college attainment of Latinx students in San Antonio. I supervised the project coordinator, facilitated meetings, led strategic planning sessions and raised funds for the project.● Raised $120,000 in grant funds to support the project for 18 months and strengthencollaboration between 6 of 7 higher education institutions in San Antonio and begin developing an advocacy agenda to advance community support for promoting Latinx student success and worked collaboratively with other P16 staff to raise an additional $180,000 for project and general organizational support.● Organized 5 high profile events, each attended by approximately 100 people: including the second annual Dual Credit Symposium, the third annual Policy Summit and the Math Matters summit.

I instructed classes entitled “Introduction to Public Policy” which explores the public policy process and uses examples of actual public policy to illustrate how the process functions and “Introduction to the Nonprofit Sector” which focuses on the scope of the nonprofit sector and the corecompetencies required by nonprofit leaders• Taught a 3-credit, undergraduate course to approximately 30 students twice a week.• Developed a service learning project with a local nonprofit to assist the organization in developing its volunteer base and increasing community support for its mission while providing students experience in working in the nonprofit sector

I carried out background research, developed policy summaries and drafted/revised legislation in the higher education committee related to professional licensing. I represented Assemblymember Glick in meetings with legislative staff, legislators, state agency representatives, lobbyists and constituents.• Tracked and developed a working knowledge of over 100 pieces of legislation introduced in the higher education committee to assist the Assemblymember in prioritizing legislation to put before the higher education committee members for a vote.• Organized roundtable discussions with legislators and stakeholder groups to gather crucial perspectives on specific bills allowing Assemblymember Glick to make informed decisions on high-profile legislation.
