I am frequently asked, "What is public health?". I define public health as serving the health of communities as opposed to that of an individual as medicine does. While studying public health, I've learned that establishing strong relations with the communities that public health serves is key to carrying out all other public health duties. Community trust comes first.My past experiences include regular volunteering at food pantries and blood drives. I have gained perspectives on two types of communities, those in need and those who are willing to give themselves to others. Because I stick around as a regular volunteer, I establish strong connections with those I serve.
