As I returned to school I have continued to remotely manage the company’s social media accounts, as well as maintaining e-commerce platforms. As part of my social media manager role I coordinate content across the North American locations to ensure clients are up-to-date on the unique shopping experiences across the locations. To ensure the equal representation of the different locations I was able to develop and execute a social media plan to incorporate both locations and service clients across North America.

My responsibilities during this phase of the website update included connecting our point of sale system, Counterpoint to our WOO Commerce website. Throughout this process I was able to trouble shoot and actively problem solve while working remotely. I was able to coordinate with my supervisor and the website team hired to established the WOO Commerce platform to ensure a seamless updating procedure was followed. My responsibilities also extended to reorganizing the website to increase shop-ability and coordinating in-person inventory as a step towards having an inventoried website. Through this position I was able to update the inventory featured on the website to optimize shopping opportunities for our international customer base.

My focus in this position was to develop a brand style across their social media presence to showcase what makes the brand and the experience they offer unique. During the COVID-19 pandemic I facilitated personal shopping experiences over Instagram, to ensure customers had an interactive shopping experience while shopping remotely during lockdowns. Alongside the unique, remote shopping experience I was able to develop content that fostered engagement from our following and increase brand recognition. During my time coordinating and producing content the company upgraded to a in-house studio set up to ensure high quality content and moved into incorporating video content.

I was able to travel to new locations in North America with a small team to establish the brands presence in new locations. Utilizing my skills in visual merchandising, inventory analysis, and customer relations the pop-ups were designed incredibly successful and exceeded sales expectations. I was able to bring these sales and the brands presence across the social media platforms while maintaining our national base and growing the international following. This allowed for our brand recognition to grow across the company’s North American locations. Through this position I was able to showcase my luxury retail experience and predict high-end customer needs. I was able to offer this same experience, both in-store, through our social media and other online communication platforms.

During the COVID-19 Pandemic I started Sarah M Sews to make comfortable, reusable and machine washable face masks. They featured adjustable ear straps, satin lining, a space for mask filters and seasonal designs. Prior to the KN-95 mask recommendation I struggled to find a mask that fit my face, was comfortable and could be washed. While my small business was active I eventually expanded into matching hair accessories with scrunchies and skincare headbands.

During my time at the Shouldice Hospital I created their social media policy, schedule, digitized archived images for content, created a regular FAQ feature on the social media, and utilized the teams knowledge to share important information for patients coming in for surgery. My goal in this role was to build a foundation for their social media presence and allow for incoming patients to see exactly what their stay at the hospital would look like. Through my content schedule I included regular features such as throwbacks to honour the long history of the hospital, show the social activities patients could expect and feature the incredible food that patients would get to enjoy. While I was the social media coordinator my main goal was easing patient stress and building a platform where they could see the unique experience they would have during their stay. Part of my role also included fostering engagement with past, present and future patients. While I was in this role I was able to create an accessible, educational and transparent platform to ease any stress patients had prior to surgery.I continued the hospital’s social media management while I returned to Queen’s University for my final year. While working remotely I was about to continue the content schedule I had established and maintained prompt customer communications. Since I was remotely managing the hospital’s social media presence I was able to communicate with the administration department to ensure the socials stayed up-to-date with any changes in the hospitals schedule (walk-in timelines, closures, and general hospital updates). Another major focus I had was keeping our following up-to-date on the incredible food that was being served as it definitely redefined patient’s ideas of hospital food. This required coordinating through the hospitality management team and head chef to ensure the schedule and quality of content remained the same.

When I started at the Shouldice Hospital my role was patient facing as I worked between Surgical Admissions, the Walk-In Clinic and Patient Communications. During my time I was able to adapt and learn quickly in each new role. I was able to utilize my strong customer service skills as I communicated with new, in-coming and past patients in-person, over email, instant messaging chat platforms and the phone. While managing patient relations and satisfaction I also worked organizing and preparing patient files across several departments for new patients and patients coming in for surgery. My strong organizational skills allowed for me to ensure all files were prepared efficiently, properly and promptly for the other departments to process. Through this role I frequently communicated with the lab, in-house dietician, accounts department, hospitality department as well as the nurse’s station and walk-in clinic allowing for me to further prove my strong organization, time a management and communication skills.

While I was contributing to The InGate Magazine’s seasonal issues my responsibilities included producing editorial content, structuring content layouts and organizing interviews with amateurs and professionals in the industry. I was able to report to the Vice President on the Board of Directors and Communications Committee Chair. Through this opportunity I was able to structure content that engaged readers and fostered excitement around the seasonal issues. This position allowed me to show case my creativity, organization, time management, team work and communication skills.

During my time in this position I worked managed the mobile site that moved across Ontario to attend events throughout the busy season. I was able to deliver exceptional customer service and personal shopping experience for the luxury brand and meet the needs of the high-end customer base. I had the opportunity to attend the seasonal trade show and interact with the brands we carry and take part in the development of new brand relationships. I also worked with visiting brands and helped facilitate brand ambassadorships and connections between the representatives and professionals in the industry. Through this opportunity I was able to present the importance of social media and brand awareness, which allowed me to successful advocate for the development of the brand’s social media. As a result, we were able to build brand recognition and create an online community of loyal clients, while simultaneously exposing the brand to new clients.
