The Peterborough Destination Association existed to support the Greater Peterborough Area in tourism marketing and investment. The Peterborough Destination Association diligently used the Destination Marketing Program to amplify existing community initiatives and efforts, and invest in future tourism opportunities. Being non-profit, the sole purpose of the program was to positively impact the area through increased tourism spending and overnight stays.While bringing added value to tourism-related community events and projects, the organization established a connection between tourism opportunities with possible funding support, while offering expert industry knowledge to their partnerships and a benefit to the Greater Peterborough Area and tourism operators within.

One of 13 RTO's across Canada, and a division on the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport.As a part of the RTO8 team, we worked together with our partners to build a competitive tourism destination that promoted the unique characteristics of our region. We built innovative experienced-based tourism products, while marketing that product and investing in our partners. As the Partner Communications Lead I was responsible for building strong relationships (many who are now friends) with many tourism-related businesses, launching and running the Kawarthas Northumberland Tourism Ambassador Program, launching and running the Online Trip Planner, hosting all educational and training sessions, building and running the Butter Tart Tour, and encouraging unique product development through experience development in partnership with the three local DMO's.
