I am a 2nd-year student at Dalhousie University working on my BSc in Marine Biology, and am searching for a summer job or internship for May-August 2025. My goal is to gain experience in research or fieldwork that will aid my career in biology. At Dalhousie, I am part of the Integrated Science Program, offered to 80 students a year and focused on research and fieldwork skills and applying them to our studies through labs, field trips, and a research project we will be presenting at a symposium. I have always had a strong interest and passion in the ocean and marine biology, and would love to use my experience gained from school and an internship to pursue a career in this field, yet I am also keeping my mind open to all opportunities as I love learning about all types of science. My key goal is hands-on experience in any field of study.Throughout my life, I have also always loved volunteering and helping others. Through my swim team, Raleigh Swimming Association, I connected my love of swimming with helping others. They provided volunteer opportunities, and offered me a job as an in-water swim coach. I enjoyed this job very much because I loved helping the kids get better at swimming and helping them learn to love the sport I am so passionate about. I was also able to further develop my personal skills in leadership and time-management through the responsibilities of teaching the class. I also have worked the past three summers as the manager of a pool through Triangle Aquatics, and as a lifeguard and assistant manager for the same pool the year before. At this job I was responsible for creating and maintaining a schedule for all the lifeguards at my pool, being their key point of contact and manager, keeping supplies fully stocked, solving problems with the facility and concerns of the members, as well as keeping the pool and pool deck a safe and fun environment.
