My Theoretical Approach and PhilosophyMy personal philosophy and approach of counseling is integrative in nature. I believe in working alongside clients. I treat each client as a unique individual and tailor counseling around their needs. Together, goals will be created, and the client has the inner tools to accomplish goals. I entered into the therapeutic world, because I know that I am empathic, genuine, and have the desire to see people accomplish positive and healthy lifestyles. I have strong roots in behavioral therapy and brief therapy, in regards to counseling. Specifically, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Clinical Hypnosis, and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) are the main evidenced based therapies I have used. Additionally, upon the needs of the client, I am eclectic in nature and am familiar with a variety of different theoretical orientations. Counseling can be an outlet for personal development and growth. I practice exploring the clients own world, as a team, to achieve growth. Building rapport, a therapeutic alliance, and trust are ways I have facilitated successful therapy. This aids the client into learning pro-social behaviors and positive life patterns.Overall, my genuine compassion for helping people has always been dear to my heart. Counseling is a process in which I am here to guide clients to use the resources they have inside themselves. I encourage, accept, care, and challenge clients to achieve their therapeutic goals for a healthy life, by using my skills and their tools.
