MicroCred is a sectoral enabling project that provides for the development of infrastructure and system architecture to deliver a coherent project of micro-credential offerings. It will provide a basis for higher education system change to support skills development across enterprise and society for benefit of all in Ireland’s 21st century knowledge economy.The project positions Ireland as the first country in Europe to establish a coherent national framework for quality assured and accredited micro-credentials.The project will deliver IMPACT:o for ENTERPRISE: by delivering significant additionality for staff development across high-demand skills and labour market needs as well as bolster national competitive edge in attracting and retaining key talent.o for UNIVERSITIES: by supporting and facilitating flexible and innovative learning opportunities to broaden and diversity learners.o for LEARNERS: by providing an expanded range of flexible, accredited micro-credentials via a readily accessible portal.
