I read and evaluated over one hundred international submissions of poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and critical essays. Collaborating with the managing editor and three other journal interns, I edited accepted publications for Sigma Tau Delta Rectangle (the organization’s creative journal) and Review (the organization’s critical journal).

In this position, I collaborated up to five hours weekly with a six-person editorial team to select the best artwork, photography, and creative writing for the journal out of hundreds of submissions. I copyedited approximately 80 pages of selected works, ensuring consistency in formatting. After publication, I organized and promoted a campus-wide reading of the journal with 60+ attendees.

I conducted research for 25 hours each week for eight weeks to assist in the production of an article manuscript on children’s literature and disability studies. This culminated with me presenting at the 2023 Children’s Literature Association Conference in Seattle.

I tutored hundreds of diverse students—including Composition I & II students, English Language Learners, students with academic accommodations, and graduate students—both in person and online for up to 13 hours weekly. I assisted with paper formatting, grammar, research, translation, and brainstorming prompts to help emerging and skilled writers hone their craft. After working in this position for one year, I accepted a promotion to event coordinator and social media manager in addition to my regular duties. In my new position, I organized approximately three academic events each year such as open-mic nights for college students with 70+ attendees. I promoted these events by designing flyers and social media posts on Canva, increasing awareness of writing assistance to students.
