Partnering with key administrative, technical, and executive leadership across HGSE and University, the Director of Security Operations is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of Harvard’s enterprise security and information risk management vision, strategy, and program at HGSE to ensure the School operates in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. In addition to assuming all functional responsibilities of the Information Security Officer (ISO) role (see 04/2012 – 06/2019), the expanded Director role also provides strategic oversight and operational governance of HGSE’s change, release, and configuration management program to ensure the successful delivery of services across the IT organization, thereby preventing incidents, minimizing downtime, and avoiding the introduction of unnecessary risk to the HGSE’s critical resources. Other major duties and responsibilities include: Protecting the integrity of assets, services, and other configuration items (CIs) under the control of HGSE IT through the service delivery lifecycle by establishing comprehensive change, release, and configuration management programs to ensure that only authorized changes are made, and only authorized components are used; Ensuring assets, services, and CIs are identified, controlled, audited, and properly cared for throughout their lifecycle, to include recording versions, baselines, constituent components, attributes, and relationship mapping; Collaborating closely with HGSE and University IT service owners and internal change advisory boards (CABs) as initiatives move through the delivery lifecycle to ensure policies and programs are effectively communicated, correctly executed, and consistently audited against a best practice model for adherence; and Ensuring executive leadership alignment on planned changes, process objectives, and organizational policies for cross-functional change, release, and configuration management.

Some areas of expertise include: Website design and development (full-stack); Branding, identity, and logo design; Book covers and jackets; Business cards; Signs, posters, and banners; Clothing products and packaging; User documentation and infographics; and Brochures, catalogs, magazines, and marketing materials.

Reporting to the Senior Director of IT-Operations/ISO and under the sponsorship of the Vice President for Administration, the CC served as the ISO’s principal support on operational information security matters as they related to the ongoing oversight, management, execution, and monitoring of the information security program at Berklee College of Music. As the technical and administrative lead on all information security matters at the College, the CC was responsible for: The development and implementation of the College’s information security, risk management, business continuity, and disaster recovery policies and procedures; The performance and remediation of annual and ad hoc infrastructural and vendor compliance risk assessments; The Investigation of and response to suspected information security incidents; The College's adherence to technical, business, and information security lifecycle commitments that supported relevant industry, legal, and College requirements; Advising executive management on the implementation of decisions, information security risk mitigation, and resource allocation; and The design, development, and execution of both general and highly-specialized information security training programs, seminars, and all related materials for the College community.

Planned, organized, and conducted complex criminal and non-criminal, multi-jurisdictional and multi-defendant investigations both independently and collaboratively with State and Federal law enforcement agencies that involved highly sensitive alleged or suspected violations against State, Federal, and international laws and regulations; Participated in specialized assignments involving overt/covert physical and electronic surveillance, interdiction of the illegal importation of contraband, confidential informant development, search and arrest warrants, seizures, and high-profile arrests; Prepared and presented detailed investigative reports, oral briefings, and large bodies of evidence to State and Federal prosecutors, foreign and domestic Embassy officials, and other high-level government representatives; Responsible for the coordination and execution of the Boston New England Human Rights Violator and War Crimes Unit Public Outreach Program; Responsible of being available and able to respond twenty-four hours a day for national and/or international natural or man-made disasters; Conferred with U.S. Attorneys, Federal and State judges, prosecutors, representatives of foreign governments, and other high-level government or agency representatives as required.

Assisted ICE Special Agents in the organization of criminal and non-criminal investigations that involved highly sensitive alleged or suspected violations against State, Federal, and international laws and regulations; and Assisted ICE Special Agents in specialized assignments involving physical and electronic surveillance; interdiction of the illegal importation of contraband; confidential informant development; and search and arrest warrants.

Collaborated in pre-trial preparation and research with Federal lawyers and paralegals within the Department of Consumer Litigation; Assisted in the preparation of special reports, trial exhibits, briefing books, and Discovery evidence relevant to trial and investigation; Transcribed and interpreted undercover investigative tapes for trial; Monitored and reported on Congressional hearings of interest to Consumer Litigation; and Composed and distributed subpoenas and witness travel arrangements.

Collaborated internationally with countries of the Asia-Pacific Partnership concerning the EPA Integrated Environmental Strategies (IES) Program; Assisted in the development of techniques used to ensure compliance with EPA guidelines, environmental regulations, and emission standards; and Assisted in the design and execution of an international political conference held in Seattle, WA.
