Dr. Sarah Ruiz is an Associate Director in Systems Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER) at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). She provides strategic guidance of PCORI’s mandate on improving health outcomes for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Prior to her current role, Sarah was the Associate Director in Research Sciences at the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR), where she led initiatives to improve health equity for underserved disabled communities. During her time at the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), she received awards recognizing contributions to reproductive health justice at the Administration for Community Living and the National Institute for Child Health and Human Development (NIH/NICHD). She has served on the advisory committee for the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and nonprofit boards. In 2020, she was awarded the AFCEA 40 under 40 award for contributions to disability research and community living. She holds a PhD in Gerontology from the University of Southern California.
