Soundwatch crew have been on the water every day during the summer educating recreational boaters on the least intrusive ways to watch whales in the wild and monitoring all vessel activity near the whales. Primary goal of the Soundwatch vessel was the conservation of the Southern Resident Killer Whales. Spent over 200 hours on an 18ft high speed outboard motorboat up to 8 hours a day.Input data collected on the boat in the office.

Stranding network investigates, collects data, and potentially handles live and dead marine mammals. Most of the stranding involved harbor seal pups, transporting some live animals to Wolf Hollow Wildlife Rehabilitation Center when appropriate. Dead animals in fresh condition were studied through necropsies conducted at the University of Washington Friday Harbor Labs by scientists from The Whale Museum and the SeaDoc Society.
