Hello! My name is Sarah Shippee and I have recently passed my CPC exam through AAPC. I am officially certified! I've put in a lot of time and effort into this medical coding journey over the last couple of years. The whole process was fascinating to me, especially since I was doing everything online due to COVID. Fascinating, exciting, frustrating, stressful, fun and a little awkward! It has been such a great experience for myself and to learn this new complicated skill is no small feat. I'm extremely proud of myself and feel so ready to take on the next thing, whatever that may be. While pursuing my CPC credentials, I continued to help run my dad's Kumon center as an assistant instructor to him. My plans were to help the new instructor take over his center during his transition into retirement. I found real joy in helping our new instructor forge her own path at our Kumon center. Working closely with her and the students/families during this change proved to be challenging, yet very rewarding. A couple months into working with her, I decided to focus solely on helping her at the center full time for the indefinite future. Tragically, she passed away in a vehicle accident in January of 2024, leaving the center to be taken over by someone else. At this time, I'm trying to figure out what is next and where my heart will be happiest. I believe it should be something with kids and education because I have a lot to offer in that department. I really love encouraging students when things feel difficult because I remember what it was like at that age. If I can get through it, anyone can.
