My name is Sarah Taing. I am currently a student at the University of Las Vegas, NV, pursuing my doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy. I finished my undergraduate studies with Magnum Cum Laude Honors at the University of Southern California. I majored in Health and Human Sciences with a minor in Occupational Science. My passion is to help people recognize the tools to live life to the fullest. I believe the actions we engage in throughout our day truly influence who we are and who we are becoming. Although it seems intuitive, in my opinion, the connection between meaningful occupations and health is not talked about enough in our society. I believe that with this realization, a person is able to experience life from a different perspective, one that can lead to improved quality of life. This is my reason for choosing the profession of Occupational Therapy. As an occupational therapist, I’d like to focus on lifestyle redesign and educate people on how to implement concepts such as mindfulness or occupational balance.Currently, my interest is in populations who are in a transitional period of life, such as newly admitted college students, newlyweds, expecting mothers, or people starting a new job. Big changes in one's life can prove to be a challenge. OTs who have an understanding of performance skills can help them adapt to their new routines or environments. I am interested in learning more about other factors, such as specific diseases or injuries, which can also cause disorder within a person's life, and how OTs help people of these populations overcome their circumstances.Some occupations that give my life meaning and purpose are hanging out with 2 cats and dog, cooking, working out, and watching documentaries.
