Profile bio

About Sarah Weisbuch

An avid outdoor adventurer and former teacher, I joined the Expedition Development team at Lindblad Expeditions in 2022.After graduating from Wesleyan University with a BA in American Studies, I taught English in the U.S., South Korea, and Spain. I traveled extensively throughout my teaching career and began to explore the complex dynamics of adventure tourism in rural communities. After a year-long backpacking trip from Guatemala to Peru, I decided to pursue a career in ethical travel. I first earned a certificate in Sustainable Tourism Destination Management from George Washington University, then pursued an MS in Travel & Tourism Management from NYU’s Tisch Center of Hospitality. At NYU, I conducted research on relevant tourism issues and presented recommendations to industry leaders. Notable projects included case studies on sustainable destination management; recommendations for DE&I improvements at the destination level; a monitoring plan for a community-based tour operator; a destination perception study for Dubai Tourism; and a white paper on tourism marketing trends. Across all of my projects, I focused on local communities and equitable practices. In addition to my graduate coursework, I served as President of NYU’s Hospitality, Tourism and Events Society (HTES) and as lead organizer of the HTES Social Innovation Conference. Now Manager of Expedition Permits at Lindblad Expeditions, I handle permits for conservation-focused voyages to destinations around the world. I’m proud to be part of an incredible team and to contribute to the movement toward a more ethical travel industry.
