As far back as I can remember, I have had a passion for the arts. Visual arts, vocal arts, written arts, theater arts – it didn’t really matter to me, I loved it all. My artistic passion and talent not only allowed me to attend an arts high school but also afforded me the opportunity to sing in a nationally aired television commercial and have my poetry published, all before graduation.Not really knowing where I wanted to land but realizing that living the starving artist lifestyle was not for me, I pursued several different roles after college. While these opportunities gave me experience working in different environments, with different personality types, and in different industries, I didn’t realize at the time that they were prepping me for my future.It was an unplanned move to Cleveland, while working in a consulting office that the door to project management was opened to me. I jumped in with both feet and haven’t look back. My experience with different personalities and industries, and creative approach to problem solving made it a natural fit. It takes hard work, practice and a willingness to make mistakes – much like art – to become a project manager. It also takes the ability to bring a disparate group of individuals together to work as a cohesive team.I have been fortunate enough to work for different companies and industries in many different cities such as: Cleveland, Atlanta, Dallas, Washington D.C., and Rochester. These opportunities to experience different cultures, diverse groups of people, and adapting project management principals to a variety of industry specific need have provide me with a unique lens through which to examine project problems that need solving.Today I work for the International Rescue Committee, where I get to use my talents and skills to make a real impact on the world.
