About Sara Kärpänen
I am the Arts Programme Director at the Finnish Institute in the UK and Ireland, and the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Women of the Wick, a feminist art media amplifying the voices, visibility and work of women and non-binary creatives. Since 2023, I've been the Co-director of Stour Trust CIC with a mission is to democratise ownership of land, spaces and buildings in the UK and East Africa.Through writing, curatorial practice, consultancy, public speaking and publishing, I am actively contributing to co-creating more equitable and just futures, and elevating the artists roles in cities.My essays and articles are regularly published in cultural and architecture publications. My first nonfiction book "Naisten Kaupunki - Työkaluja oman tilan valtaamiseen" (City of Women - Tools for Occupying Public Space) was published by Into Publishing in Helsinki in 2022.
