Member of senior leadership team with principal responsibility for all legal and administration matters for the Genetics & IVF Institute (GIVF) and its subsidiaries, including Fairfax Cryobank and Fairfax EggBank, two of the world’s largest reproductive tissue banks; Fairfax Surrogacy, a full-service surrogacy agency serving clients around the world; Fairfax Diagnostics, a preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) lab; GIVF Fertility, a comprehensive clinical practice focused on assisted reproductive technologies and genetic testing; and related international businesses.As General Counsel, I advise on all legal and compliance matters affecting the company, including corporate law and governance; FDA and health care regulatory compliance; HIPAA and privacy; litigation, claims, and risk management; licensure, inspections, and audits; dispute resolution; labor and employment; real estate; international regulatory and import/export compliance; mergers and acquisitions; managed care contracting; and intellectual property. As SVP of Administration, I serve as a corporate leader for GIVF in human resources, people and culture, communications, and clinical and business operations.

Held a dual role in the legal and finance departments. Reporting to the General Counsel, served as Inova's primary legal counsel for issues related to compliance, risk management, hospital operations, revenue integrity, managed care, finance operations, and reimbursement. Reporting to the CFO, led Inova's managed care contracting, revenue integrity, and pricing strategy functions.

Legal and strategic advisor for executive leadership and all operating units and business divisions of Inova Health System, a 1700-bed, 17,000-employee non-profit organization including five acute care hospitals, ambulatory care centers, primary and specialty care physician practices, home health providers, blood donation services, and a commercial health insurance plan. Primary counsel advising on hospital operations, compliance, revenue integrity, risk management, fraud and abuse, privacy, reimbursement, health information management, medical staff, licensure and accreditation, quality and safety, and bioethics matters. Legal advisor to Inova Health Care Services Board of Trustees, Inova's governing body for quality and safety, credentialing, and operational issues.Responsible for reviewing and drafting documents for complex, system-wide health care operational strategies. Provided guidance system-wide on compliance with federal and state health care laws and regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid conditions of participation, the Stark law, the federal Anti-kickback law, the False Claims Act, HIPAA, The Joint Commission hospital accreditation standards, 42 CFR Part 2, EMTALA, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the 340B drug discount program, Section 501(r) of the Internal Revenue Code, and Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act.

Counseled providers, hospitals, health plans, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, and related trade associations on a broad range of health care legal and regulatory issues, including compliance with federal and state fraud and abuse laws and Medicare, Medicaid and other federal health care program requirements. Drafted legal and policy memoranda, regulatory comment letters, commercial contracts, compliance policies and training documents, client alerts, and trade press articles. As a registered lobbyist, advocated on behalf of clients before Congressional and Agency staff.
