The Global Biosciences Center (GBC) is established to drive the expansion of SGS’ micro- & molecular biological service offering.The center develops and guides the deployment of integrated services in multiple industries throughout the global SGS network and business lines. Within the GBC, experts with varied background reside which develop and verify methods and services leveraging micro- and molecular technologies. These services are trialled and tested and then rolled out to the wider SGS network to serve the many industries SGSserves. The primary focus of the GBC is towards environmental & industrial applications.

The Collaborative Laboratory (CoLAB) in Biorefineries - BIOREF - aims to be one of the driving forces to change the paradigm of economic development through a national strategy for the use of biomass as a renewable resource. CoLAB BIOREF will focus its main R&I activities on developing a variety of technological activities carrying out multidisciplinary research, development and innovation actions necessary to change the paradigm of the fossil-based economy, design and implement biorefineries oriented to the sustainable use of biomass. The typology of activities and services that are developed at CoLAB BIOREF:• Support in the identification of technological development opportunities;• Process reengineering;• Support to management and productive organization;• Technological audits;• Assessment of the technological level and the capacity for innovation;• Sessions to boost innovation and generate ideas;• Technological "Screening";• Support for the implementation and implementation of new technologies.

The Technology and Engineering Department dedicated to the area of technological consultancy that covers the entire range of processing technologies in the textile and clothing domain, from the most conventional to the new generation technologies, normally associated with technical and functional products. The main activities and services developed in this department consisted of:• Monitoring the implementation of projects (R&D in Co-Promotion, Demonstrators, Mobilizers); Monitoring of companies and units of the scientific system in the writing of projects for community and national funds (H2020, PT2020, Sifides, among others); Support for advancing science and technology to create value and increase competitiveness in the R&D sector;

The MTT Platform develops complex projects to generate transgenic animals and cells. As a Research Assistant, I performed cloning projects using advanced molecular biology techniques and strategies, such as, primer design, DNA and RNA expansion and/or extraction, genotyping (rodents, zebra-fish and drosophila melanogaster) and DNA, RNA and protein sample testing using the Bioanalyzer and CRISPR. In parallel, I also produced high concentration titers of Adeno-Associated Viruses and Lentiviruses viral vectors at a BLS2 security lab to be used in several research applications, using cell culture techniques, cell transfection and infection, mycoplasm testing and virus quantification via qRT-PCR.

Genotoxicity assessment is an essential component of the safety assessment of all type of substances and is relevant in the context of international legislations aiming at the protection of human and animal health. Regulatory requirements for substances ranging from pharmaceuticals, veterinary drugs, plant protection products, industrial chemicals, biocides and cosmetics foresee the performance of the in vitro tests. The Microbiology and Cell Biology Laboratory performs non-clinical studies to assess the genotoxic potential. AMES testing is used for detecting mutagens in samples using Salmonella typhimurium histidine (His) reversion system, which involves mutation of the histidine locus in the genome of several strains. This test is conducted according to Principles of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) in compliance with Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) 471 Guideline for Testing of Chemicals: Bacterial Reverse Mutation Test and the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of Microbiology and Cell Biology Laboratory.

Responsible for organizing actions to promote/demonstrate products and services in different locations with a view to achieving the proposed objectives.

Under master thesis I find myself developing a project based on the production of vaccines or diagnostic methods for Schmallenberg virus, using the production of recombinant proteins methodologies in baculovirus expression systems.

The main objective of this project was based on the search of cereulide and enterotoxin in species of Bacillus Cereus, associated with food poisoning using phenotypic, biochemical and molecular techniques.
