Command all aspects of accounting operations including financial control, financial reporting, and risk mitigation. Analyze financial data to forecast revenue, monitor expenditures and limit variances from budget to aid organization in maintaining positive revenue and financial growth. Govern internal control policies and procedures to safeguard assets and resources and to ensure compliance with all industry and organizational rules and regulations.

Govern and streamline administrative and financial systems, including accounting, payroll, 401K plan, employee benefits, and physical infrastructure of firm. Lead strategic planning and overall management of operations as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, insurance, investing and protecting resources and forecasting needs while acting as firm’s chief financial spokesperson. Facilitate management of $3B in assets for 92 clients, prepare quarterly billings, and manage 100’s of vendors.

Led all accounting operations of firm, including production of periodic financial reports, maintained adequate system of accounting records and comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhanced accuracy of firm’s reported financial results, and ensured that reported results complied with generally accepted accounting principles.

Developed annual budget by gathering requirements and negotiating procurement priorities with leadership teams across 36 business units. Prepared annual operating plan with three-year forecasts of revenue and expenses, produced quarterly P&Ls for variable compensation metrics, calculated monthly reserve adjustments, and loaded firm-wide expenses into budgeting system and corrected any rejected files.

Led production of realized gain/loss report, asset valuation reserve, and FAS 115 unrealized exhibit for firm’s life insurance companies. Managed financial planning and analysis, prepared decision-making support materials, researched accounting control issues, assisted in review and revision of internal policies, procedures, and their verification, and reviewed and approved affiliate bond reports and GL entries.

Prepared month-end reporting for casualty insurance division’s global portfolio of bonds, stocks, and other long and short-term investments, valued at more than $8B in holdings. Completed quarterly and annual Schedule Ds, monthly reconciliations of AP/CIT, GL, and variance between the years reconciliations.

Reviewed client financial statements and SEC filings to ensure compliance with GAAP; aided in prep for audit engagements, organized and logged team correspondence with clients worldwide, and extensively researched technical accounting topics.
