I am a 3rd-year undergraduate student studying Electrical Engineering at IIT Madras, driven by a passion for research. My main interests lie in analog circuits, digital circuits, and signal processing, though I am open to exploring other areas within electrical engineering.I thrive on hands-on learning experiences and collaborative projects that bridge theoretical concepts with real-world applications. Beyond coursework, I am actively involved in research initiatives, eager to contribute to cutting-edge discoveries in the field.In addition to my academic pursuits, I serve as the head of the Project Management team at the Centre for Innovation (CFI). Here, I provide insights and guidance to various clubs, overseeing the successful delivery of 70+ projects with a team of over 400 members.     This project focuses on simulating a Free-Space Optics (FSO) communication link in MATLAB. The scenario involves two points separated by 1.3 kilometers between IITM Research park to Electrical Sciences Block, replicating a real-world FSO system.The simulation will incorporate key factors impacting performance. These include channel attenuation, which accounts for the weakening of the optical signal due to atmospheric effects over the distance, Pointing errors, referring to misalignment between transmitter and receiver, will also be simulated to assess their influence on received signal strength. Finally, the model will consider the efficiency of converting electrical signals to optical signals at both ends (O/E efficiency).By leveraging MATLAB, the simulation will analyze the interplay between these channel effects and system parameters. Metrics like received power, bit error rate (BER), and system capacity will be generated. This allows for a comparison and quantification of how pointing errors and O/E efficiency impact overall system performance. Ultimately, the simulation provides valuable insights for optimizing FSO system design and assessing their feasibility for specific applications.
