Every day I am grateful to be a part of Hospitality and Tourism Management at the College of Charleston. The faculty, staff, and alumni go out of their way to help current students succeed. It has pushed me to become very involved with the department, which has expanded my professional and personal skills greatly. I have learned that to be a successful leader, one must have curiosity, ambition, and efficiency, but just as important are the soft skills of authenticity, humility, and empathy. The ability to chat and connect with people from all different backgrounds is a skill that I am the most grateful to have learned in college and through working in hospitality. I have completed three study abroad experiences during my undergraduate studies, which have sparked my passion for travel. In the future, I look forward to traveling more to learn about and experience different cultures. An important goal of mine is to become fluent in Spanish. I have a strong background in food and beverage and therefore have an interest in food and beverage/bar management post-graduation, but I am exploring other fields as well to see which is the best fit. As I finish out my career at CofC and during my first few years post-grad, it is my goal to learn more about the beverage industry and also gain experience in travel planning and/or the hotel business. This will help me be well-rounded in the hospitality industry as a whole and allow me to take the skills I learn to any field I decide to go into.
