PhD student in the 4-year MRes/PhD program within the British Heart Foundation. My research is focused on macrophages' modulation via paracrine signals from cardiac progenitor stem cells, using a single cell qRT-PCR approach. Using single-cell qRT-PCR approach I investigated the paracrine signals from cardiac progenitor stem cells on macrophage differentiation and activation during inflammation after myocardial infarction. I developed strong expertise in mammalian cell culture of primary cell lines (cardiomyocytes, macrophages, endothelial cells, fibroblasts); single-cell qRT-PCR and gene expression analysis; cell-based and biochemistry assay; Western blot; quantitative image analysis and high content imaging; transgenic technologies and breeding strategies.British Heart Foundation 4-year PhD Studentship (MRes/PhD) BHF Centre of Research Excellence - National Heart and Lung Institute

My project investigated the functional interaction of the α-Synuclein in the neurodegenerative syndromes. I became proficient in heterologous protein expression; protein purification; chromatographic; and fibrillation assay methods of mouse α-Syn. My project focused on P. Aeruginosa pathogenesis and the molecular mechanisms involved in the signalling pathway associated with type VI protein secretion. I acquired microbiology skills; vectors design (primers design, digestion, ligations, cloning, mutagenesis); bacteria culture, isolation and transformation. ERASMUS Scholarship (2013)
