I don't want to have a tacky LinkedIn profile and I think it would be tacky to start this bio with the following statement: "I love news."But this is the beginning of a new paragraph. I love news. I have always loved news. I have always been "tuned in" to the stories of the day, locally and nationally. I am that person who walks into a room and says, "Guess what I just read..."So it'll come as no surprise that I pursued journalism in college. I graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 2013 with my BA in Journalism and Mass Communication.Immediately after graduation I was hired at 13WHAM in Rochester as the Weekend Assignment Editor. This was the first fast-paced newsroom I worked in. It was intimidating and I loved every second of it.After a few months on the desk, I was promoted to Associate Producer. I produced the 10 p.m. news on the weekends and ran the desk/social media accounts during the week. This job was only part-time, but the things I learned were essential to my move to WIVB. As an assignment editor/weekend producer, it was my job to make phone calls, set up interviews, send photographers out on breaking news and assign reporters.After a year at 13WHAM, I was hired full-time at WIVB in Buffalo in August 2014. It was during my time at News 4 that I have learned how to become a leader and a team player. I wrote an hour and a half of news, five days a week. There isn't room for lunch; let alone error. I worked on a deadline every single day. We were constantly adjusting for breaking and developing stories minutes before the shows went to air.My time at WIVB prepared me for my next job as an Executive Producer at CBS 58 in Milwaukee. Moving to Wisconsin has been an eye-opening experience, both personally and professionally. No matter where I live, the best way to succeed in this position is constant communication between myself, the anchors, reporters, producers, assignment editors and photographers. I work hard and I believe it shows.
