I try to find a leadership quote every week to focus on to motivate me to be a better employee and person. This week's is by John Wooden: "The most important leadership tool you have is your own personal example." This quote sticks out to me because I feel that in everything I do, I try to do it to the best of my ability, and lead by doing what needs to be completed because I see a problem that needs solved.I feel very much that you can only earn respect from others by treating everyone with respect, by standing up for both yourself and others, by completing your work correctly and timely, and by making the effort to foster meaningful relationships. Only as a team can we achieve great things.I believe some of my greatest strengths lie in the realm of diversity and inclusion, by building up my team by asking for and receiving feedback and supporting my colleagues, so that we can all accomplish a central goal, and improve ourselves as we move to the next project. I believe that having a diverse team allows one to think differently and have access to many different viewpoints and ideas.Some of my passions include increasing diversity in STEM fields through volunteerism and mentoring, volunteering at my local dog shelter, traveling both at home and abroad, spending quality time with family and friends, stepping out of my comfort zone (scuba diving, etc.), and all things related to music.
