Sara Torrekens has recently (July 2020) founded a new niche firm, John - John Law, focussing on the criminal aspects and enforcement of labor and employment law. John - John Law has offices in Flanders (Waregem) and Brussels, with meeting facilities in Antwerp as well. Sara Torrekens has developed a specialization in various matters, but especially in occupational health and safety (OHS), accident response strategies, as well as in prevention. Her work covers not only the provision of advice but also support with regard to the civil and criminal court proceedings after a work accident. With regard to the latter and other matters, she regularly speaks at seminars and is the author of numerous publications. Previously Sara Torrekens has worked for many years (19 years to be precise) for Claeys & Engels, from 2011-2020 as Attorney - Counsel. Within the international Alliance, Ius Laboris, Sara Torrekens has been the chair of an international working group of attorneys specialised in OHS and the associated liability risks for undertakings and managers. Sara Torrekens holds a Law degree from the Gent University (UGent). Between 1999 and 2000, she was a member of the lawyers’ Order of the Gent Bar. Since 2001, she belongs to the lawyers’ Order of the Bar of West-Flanders and, recently, also of the Bar of Brussels.
