Sarel is a Professional Engineer and manager with 31 years of experience. He acted as the National Discipline Manager for construction for 12 years. He has been involved in International projects since 1996, acting as Contract Management specialist/claims consultant.He is extensively involved in the development and updating of the Construction Management ISO9000/2008 quality manual that is used throughout the group in South Africa.He acts as the AECOM South African Central region risk manager whereby he is responsible for compiling documents to be submitted to the Office of Risk Management, the Hub or the Major Projects Review Committee regarding risks on project proposals, agreements and subcontractors. He reviews project delivery risks identified by the project teams in the region.Sarel is currently a member of a Dispute Adjudication Board for a major roads project in Malawi. This board consists of three members as envisaged in the FIDIC Conditions of Contract..During the past 31 years he gained extensive experience in road rehabilitation work and construction supervision on a full range of roads from multi-lane concrete and asphalt freeways through to low volume/low cost rural roads. Sarel acquired extensive geometric pavement and structural design experience for roads and bridges. His knowledge extends to management of water related structures as for example he currenly act as the Engineer on a major water treatment works project for the City of Tshwane.Sarel acted as the Engineer/Project Manager on various projects. Although his main expertise lies in road and road related structures, he has been extensively involved in the construction management of the 2010 stadiums, airports such as the King Shaka International airport near Durban and the Gautrain rapid rail system.
