About Sarela Bliman-Cohen

For over two decades, I have dedicated my spare time to volunteering with various Boston-area nonprofits, focusing on food insecurity and homelessness. Through this work, I became acutely aware of a critically underserved population: homeless LGBTQ+ minors.Many young people “couch surf” with friends or relatives, while others are entirely unsheltered. Estimates suggest that hundreds of LGBTQ+ minors in Massachusetts face these challenges, leaving them vulnerable to survival sex, substance use, and a heightened risk of suicide.My vision is to establish a campus-like setting—a safe place where LGBTQ+ minors can live within their community throughout their high school years.Together, we can create a future where every LGBTQ+ youth has a place to call home.www.qnest.org
