Profile bio

About Thomas G.

I am a determined, emerging museum professional who is passionate about connecting the past with the present to prepare us for the future. I am continuing to train academically as a cultural historian with a focus on Egypt towards a Ph.D. via the University of Toronto. On the museum side, I am currently completing a Certificate in Museum Studies via the Ontario Museum Association. With these skills in hand, I am actively engaged in the arts and heritage industry. Via my blog, the Nile Scribes, we create a welcoming, inclusive community and share our expertise on the history of Egypt in an accessible format on a diverse set of topics. Our key audience is the general public and we are proud for having taken a group of 15+ Egyptophiles on a two-week tour throughout Egypt. I have a plethora of experience in working with diverse communities (e.g. as a Visitor Experience Representative with the Royal Ontario Museum). Providing an effective visitor experience requires efficient team work and collaboration with several community groups. As President of the SSEA chapter, I am proud for collaborating with several community partners to organise lectures, small conferences, and discussions - it not only helped to sustain our finances, but, most importantly, brought together diverse audiences to talk about shared interests. The past may be yesterday, but we are excited by what it brings us today for tomorrow.

Listed skills include Leading People, Research, Teaching, Museums, and 14 others.
