The identification of specific genetic lesions in leukemias by the use of reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) has proven extremely useful for rapid diagnosis and sensitive detection of minimal residual disease (MRD). Our focus of interest included but was not limited to the use of qualitative and quantitative PCR based assays for the diagnosis and MRD detection of genetic lesions and the immunophenotyping of leukemias and lymphomas.
  • Dabur Research Foundation
    Development Scientist
    Dabur Research Foundation 1999 - 2000
    Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, In
Carried out a study on screening and development of Radiolabeled Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide Analogs for Diagnosis and Radiotherapy at Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS) as part of a collaboration between DRF and INMAS. A preliminary screening identified Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide as a biomarker of choice as receptors for this peptide are overexpressed on a majority of human epithelial tumors including exocrine, pancreatic, gastric, colonic and small cell lung cancers. Analogs of VIP were designed and screened on human cancer cell lines using Radioligand assays. The analog VP03 was chosen for its high Binding Affinity and further work was directed to develop a 99mTc based VP03 radiopharmaceutical that could be used for the in vivo detection of cancer using Gamma imaging. This study has resulted in a US Patent No: 6,608,174 granted in Aug 2003
