About Shreya Sarkar-Barney

Dr. Shreya Sarkar-Barney is the CEO and founder of Human Capital Growth, a provider of consulting and technology-enabled products in evidence-based talent management. She is the author of the book ‘The Role of National Culture in Transfer of Training’ and a recent case study for The Oxford Handbook of Climate and Culture titled “The Tata Group: Lessons on Global Business Excellence from India’s Most Prominent Multinational”. She currently chairs the SHRM (US) effort on developing an ANSI standard on employee turnover.Shreya’s work across North America, Europe and Asia have focused on improving global workforce effectiveness. These have included projects to close revenue gaps through better talent, promote project efficiency through improved cross-border collaboration, and support organizational performance through better leaders. Some of her clients include Carl Zeiss, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Microsoft, Fidelity Investments, Merck, McKesson and Knowledge Advisors. Prior to starting Human Capital Growth, Shreya led global Leadership Development at Levi Strauss & CO. and Organizational Effectiveness at Dendrite International (now Cegedim). She has also been a tenure track professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology.     Workforce metrics are commonly used as a measures of organizational health. However, most metrics tend to be lag indicators of outcomes such as turnover, engagement, productivity, etc. By the time an organization chooses to act on these metrics, the potential damage to the business may have already occurred.
