Sarosh Olpadwala serves as Deputy Senior Advisor to Mayor Bowser in Washington, DC. Prior to this, Sarosh spent almost a decade as the Director of Real Estate in the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED). In that role, Sarosh oversaw all of DMPED’s major land and development deals in a portfolio of more than 115 District development projects worth over $22 billion. Under Mayor Bowser’s leadership, Sarosh completed over 70 projects, encompassing 18 million square feet, including Audi Field, the Entertainment & Sports Arena, the Franklin School, the Wharf, 5,500 new residential units (3,700 of which are deeply affordable), and many others. He played a critical role in economic development across all eight wards, moving many long-stalled projects, addressing food insecurity through the Neighborhood Prosperity Fund, and creating Mayor Bowser’s signature OurRFP and her nationally recognized EquityRFP.In addition to the real estate portfolio, Sarosh managed the Office of Public Private Partnerships (OP3), executing the District’s first public–private partnership and the nation’s largest urban streetlight modernization P3 with the $309 million DC Smart Street Lighting Project. His office also included the Equitable Development Group, and a special finance group that manages economic development finance vehicles for the District, such as Tax Increment Financing (TIF), tax abatements, and certain loans and grants.
