About Sasanka Uppu

I work as a SDE2 at Datadog and have been with the firm for over 2 years. I hold a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Northeastern University and I have had over 5 years of experience in the software field wherein I worked in various roles pertaining to Software Development, Data Science and EngineeringI have worked as a Data Science Research assistant at Northeastern where my research is on predicting emotion from audio speech using deep learning. My previous work here includes the impact of fake reviews using ML and MapReduce techniques. I had initially developed an interest in this field during my summer research at Fern University - Germany, on Emotion Prediction from Email Conversations. Having the chance to interact with different professors gave me an adequate amount of understanding in this field and fueled my desire to pursue more.My past experience as a Full Stack Developer co-op at Placepass helped me adapt to the Agile environment. With bi-weekly sprints and monthly demos the fast-paced startup environment helped me boost my skills in a short amount of time. I worked as a Backend developer, integrating different vendors to the Placepass platform using test-driven development, as well as automating the data platform to sync data from different API services. I also worked on Machine Learning projects which dealt with classifying multi-labeled products and Topic Modeling. I have had a software development experience at Honeywell Technologies which helped me understand the complete SDLC cycle from implementation, deployment, quality assurance to testing. I primarily worked on building Web Applications as POC which were intended to assist pilots and maintenance engineers in the Aerospace division for analysis during in-flight and post-flight.My curiosity and enthusiasm fuel me to learn and try new things allowing me to keep up to date in technology. And I look forward to work in challenging environments and try giving my best.
