The young people on the ‘Route to Work’ project are considered to be disadvantaged, therefore requiring an action plan tailored to their individual needs. Weekly completion of one to one/group sessions in the following areas; CV & cover letter writing, Interview techniques, mock interviews, life skills, job searching, literacy and numeracy skills. Organisation of fortnightly events for the young people to attend. The events would be designed to benefit them by giving them knowledge about a particular subject or a qualification. Some examples are; First Aid at Work, Level 2 Health & Safety and The benefits of Volunteering. Due to the nature of this role another vital part of my role was to update files for each young person after every point of contact.

A trained Custody Officer working as a Training Centre Assistant (Team Leader in my final 3 months) at Medway Secure Training Centre (Young Offenders Institution). Working alongside vulnerable Young Offenders aged 12-17. Involvement in most aspects of the young peoples lives whilst in custody, from personal hygiene, education and unit activities to rehabilitation, offending behaviour programmes and general preparation for their lives when they leave the centre, whether that be back into the community or onto an adult prison. Facilitation and Implementation of 1-2-1 key work sessions and work with a team to produce and deliver specialist behavioural programmes (Behaviour management plans, Vulnerability plans, Bullying logs, Sexual behaviour tracking logs, Suicide and self harm plans). I played a key role in participating fully in the education programme by assisting the teacher and maintaining order in the classroom. Attending reviews with other professionals on a regular basis such as; Social Workers, Lawyers, Psychologists, Duty Managers, Health Care professionals, Care professionals and relatives/care givers.

My main role at my time at Vanquis Bank was as a customer service representative, this included some sales however, my main duties included; taking payments, resolving credit card issues, dealing with complaints and advising credit cardholders how to manage their accounts and avoid defaults. I worked within a team however it was my responsibility to independently help the customers as much as possible. My time at the bank taught me many different skills such as inputting data and controlling a computer banking system, dealing with difficult and sometimes abusive customers in a polite and professional manner as well as increasing my confidence in taking on a role with a lot of responsibility in an office environment. I was also later trained the main skills of a neighbouring department which involved introducing new customers to the company, thoroughly checking through personal details for their applications and focusing more on the sales aspects of the Company such as offering Identity Protection.
