Sascha graduated cum laude in architecture from RWTH Aachen in 2007 and co-founded Space&Matter with Tjeerd Haccou and Marthijn Pool in 2009, at the height of the economic crisis, when opportunities were scarce. He spearheaded innovative projects such as De Ceuvel and SWEETS Hotel and played a key role in shaping Schoonschip. Driven by a passion for strategic design, innovative concepts, and democratic development processes, Sascha is committed to applying the principles of the Doughnut economy to the built environment. He is actively exploring how community-driven developments can play a central role in a just transition. To scale the impact of these efforts, he co-founded three additional companies: Common City, a community-driven development firm; Sumowala, a rewilding and recreation concept; and CrowdBuilding, a platform for community led housing.
