As Director of Strategy & Communication I provided strategic and political advice to the Federal Treasurer, advising on economic management and fiscal strategy, along with managing communications across the portfolio, including media relations and stakeholder engagement.This role encompassed policy lead on tax and superannuation reform, with specific focus on corporate and personal income tax, multinational tax and superannuation, as well as finance services technology – “FinTech”, with responsibility for COAG reform and the Council of Federal Financial Relations, as well as high level involvement in key elements of the Federal Budget and preparation of Budget materials.

The Tax White Paper Unit was established to support and facilitate the reform of Australia’s tax system by the Australian Government. The Tax White Paper was a comprehensive all-of-government review of Australia's taxation system.The Tax White Paper Unit helped manage the engagement with the Australian community and provide information to the community about how the tax system operates and the challenges we face. It liaised with the Depart of Treasury and the Tax White Paper Taskforce, as well as other Ministerial office, departments and agencies, key stakeholders and the community.

The College represents 13,500 Fellows with an additional 5,500 trainees, all serviced by around 200 staff with a turn over of approximately $30 million per annum. There are over 30 people in Professional Affairs, HR & Advocacy within the College, looking after internal and external communciations, health policy and government relations, as well as Human Resources for the organisation.

In 2009 Sasha helped manage a smooth and seamless change-over of operators for the tram franchise in Melbourne valued at approximately $2.8 billion over eight years. The transition plan required the development and implementation of an employee engagement programme, for over 2,000 employees including specific activities such as the establishment of a new corporate brand for the operating company and a brand refresh for the franchise.

Firstly as the Government Relations & Trade Advocacy Manager and then as the Group Regulatory Affairs Manager in the Corporate Risk team reporting to the Chief Risk Officer Sasha helped to manage the corporate affairs challenges facing the compnay and the difficult transition to new wheat marketing arrangements. He pro-actively enhanced and facilitated AWB’s strategic and operational corporate responses to external and internal issues such as; compliance with Australian and international sanctions programs, exposure to credit risk and loan accounts, demands of credit rating agencies, ongoing management of international legal and regulatory issues such as anti-money laundering and OFAC, political donations policy, domestic legal cases and regulatory issues involving the ACCC, ASX and ASIC and many other issues facing the agricultural sector.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this position was responsible for the reputation and influence of Tourism Australia through the effective leadership and management of government relations, media management, public relations and corporate communications (internal and external) activities on behalf of the organisation. During this time, the organisation underwent significant operational and organsiational change and it was also the launch of the highly controversial 'So Where the Bloody Hell Are You?' international marketing campaign.

Key achievements include;Development of the $235 million Tourism White Paper, with initial Green Paper development, community consultation, Cabinet submission process, White Paper funding and project development, Cabinet approval, Backbench committee approval, Joint Party approval, media and industry launch with industry implementation.Implementation of the $350 million new tourism Branding Australia campaign.
