About Sasha Knight

My interest in the heritage field has been brought on by a fascination for well-designed historic and modern buildings and a trend in some urban centres to creatively marry the two forms together. We live in an age where any attempt to display quality of design or re-utilize existing materials is often overlooked by cost. This has led to homogeneous, mass-produced, disposable and poor quality buildings that our society has become accustomed to living and working in. We should seek to utilize older building techniques, which have proven to remain structurally sound, tasteful and aesthetically pleasing over time. The challenge is integrating these methods into modern building practices while being mindful of energy efficiency, green initiatives and how people use these spaces in their daily lives.
