Hospital manager for a rehabilitation unit specialising in the European hedgehog - classed as vulnerable to extinction on Great Britain's Red List for mammals. Directly responsible for an inspirational team of 4 staff and over 70 volunteers, admitting 825 patients in 2018 alone. During my time as manager, the unit received a commendation in the October 2019 DEFRA inspection, achieved a success rate increase by 13% in a year, and a personal project was updating the hospital protocols ensuring all processes were evidence-based whilst creating open-access resources to aid training in rehabilitation. Building connections with local businesses, veterinary practices, wildlife rescues, and educational establishments was another key goal. Additional positions of responsibility included being part of the firearms team for Shepreth Wildlife Park, and also being a member of their ethical board.

This role required highly accurate yet fast data entry, particularly due to the nature of typing up Inspectorate reports whilst simultaneously aiding the caller. A very high level of empathy was required alongside the ability to deal with, and help others deal with, emotionally challenging and sensitive subjects. Alongside my paid position I volunteered time with the rescue department, fostered domestic species, and was an active RSPCA ‘Wildlife Hero'.
