Residential and commercial architecture

Homebound is a start-up company that combines technology with home [re]building, by providing insurance consultation, architecture, interior design, project management, construction, and warranty services. Applying my knowledge and understanding of each of these aspects I guided clients who were rebuilding their homes due to their loss from a natural disaster, primarily the 2017 North Bay wildfires, through the entire process.My wide-ranging responsibilities included collaborating with clients and project architects through the design process to define scope of work for contracts. These consultations involved participating in design and lifestyle meetings in order to determine budget and desired design aesthetic. The success of these meetings depended, in part, by my being able to appreciate and understand the client's point of view and the emotional aspect of their situation, due to my own personal loss of a home. Using my 20 years of experience working with a local architecture firm, I was able to coordinate with project engineers in developing construction documents. This included successfully preparing submittal sets for local building departments and any homeowner associations for review and approval. Through the process I participated in weekly on-site meetings with the construction project team and clients to evaluate work progress and prepared weekly job reports. In addition, I maintained the project schedule, tracked and identified milestones and oversaw the project budget using CoConstruct software while also reviewing and approving all associated billing.While working for Homebound I was able to use my experiences there in helping implement standards for the Project Manager role and guidelines for department-wide collaboration.

Hired initially as an Administrative Assistant, I continued my education in drafting and architecture which allowed me to work on design projects using AutoCAD. Eventually my knowledge of products and design afforded me the opportunity to closely collaborate on projects with the two Principal Architects. I handled all aspects of the project as the first point of contact. My duties included: defining scope of work, contract writing, budget and accounting, permit submittals, maintain library, construction administration (ASI's, RFI's, submittals), bid meetings and budget review for value engineering, consultant coordination, and attended project site meetings.In addition to Project Administration, I managed new employee on-boarding, payroll, all A/R and A/P using QuickBooks and Excel, coordinated office acquisitions and relocations, product, code and design research, file management, established file naming conventions and standards, archiving, marketing, social + print media, and website design.

My responsibilities were assisting clients in design decisions related to custom printing and typesetting for personal and commercial materials, including paper selection, overall style and conceptual design, and marketing materials/packages. I acted as the liaison between the client and the graphic design department and would see the project through from concept to completion.
