Nothing But Hope and Passion is an independent magazine, dedicated to music, arts and culture. As part of VICE content network, NBHAP offers cutting, personal views of the music industry, often showcasing rising artists that push the boundaries of expectations.As a music journalist and photographer, I reported on live shows and artist showcases; reviewed releases; and interviewed artists to craft in-depth profile pieces. Notable artists interviewed include: alt-J, Fleet Foxes, Portugal. The Man, Disclosure, The Temper Trap, The Lumineers, and Sylvan Esso. As a publication largely invested in independent musicians, I was responsible for keeping a pulse on new artists and developing material to promote them. In order to garner traction for the publication, I developed my SEO skills and assisted in managing social media accounts.

Gigmit is a digital artist discovery tool and booking platform for music industry professionals. The online portal facilitates event and booking management, connecting musicians, promoters, bookers and agencies to make live shows possible for independent musicians.As a Junior Music Booker, I orchestrated national and international concerts for independent musicians at small to mid-sized venues. Representing up to fifteen venues at any time allowed me to book an extensive and diverse range of concerts - about 10-20 per week, and in genres ranging from rock and pop to jazz and folk. Though booking was my primary role, I also facilitated communication between the artists and hosts, ensuring seamless event organization from the first point of contact through to the live event. This often included creating marketing materials and publishing campaigns, evaluating their impact through CRM systems, including Intercom, Hubspot and Podio. This role developed my client communication skills (both in English and German) and drew on my ability to self-start and work independently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment.

During my time at The Daily Californian, I reported on and photographed 4-6 arts related events per month. Following my first semester on the paper, I became the lead beat reporter of the music section. As the music beat, I researched local and national music trends and crafted storylines and the editorial direction of the section. Similar to my role at NBHAP, I interviewed artists and wrote profiles and releases on their work. This included musicians such as Milo Greene, Saint Motel, and Broken Bells. To advance the reach of the paper, I promoted articles through social media platforms and campus campaigns.

Shift Independent was my first foray into the music and publishing industry. I assisted in planning musicians' tour routes; created publicity materials for upcoming concerts; and researched venues and lodgings for bands. To expand the labels reach and repertoire, I vetted unsigned bands.

I began my role at Caliber as a journalist, writing three articles per semester on topics ranging from music and fashion to health and politics. While I maintained my journalism position, I also came to lead Caliber's editorial photography projects. This entailed corresponding with retailers to secure apparel; and orchestrating and directing photoshoots, including location, design, and model casting. I completed the post-production process through Photoshop and InDesign.

As an intern at Allied Entertainment, I promoted movies through direct outreach to local businesses and by creating and distributing event advertisements. I oversaw movie screenings to ensure successful premiers and was responsible for planning and photographing promotional events.
