As a human geneticist and computational biologist my primary goal is to solve genetic puzzles. The cancer genome is an ultimate puzzle. It is shaped by both germline and somatic variation, while at the same time it is continuously evolving due to mutagens/age/genomic instability. My current research is focused on the detection and characterization of somatic mutations in pathologically normal-appearing tissues and when possible matched tumor. The goal of this work is to gain insights into early disease pathogenesis.
